‘OHANA Design Options

You are here

Our professionally designed templates present our clients' work in a clean, classic style. By selecting a typeface and adding your personal images, your style will be incorporated to create a unique book that suits your purposes.

Choose from our cover templates and interior templates (you do not need to match "Cover Design A" with "Interior Design A"). The fonts used in our designs (each design style allows you to choose a serif or sans serif font) are compatible with Hawaiian diacritical marks.

Once you've made your design selections, complete a Design Instruction Form.

Our production team will need specific instructions from you on where to place images and special pages (chapter opening pages, quote pages, etc.) — your manuscript will need to include these instructions, marked specifically for our team. You'll receive a set of instructions on how to mark up your manuscript once we've reviewed your order.

Your input regarding the presentation of your images and positioning of text and image elements will be taken into consideration, however, at times we are unable to comply with your requests due to the limitations of the template design. If we have questions or concerns regarding your design requests, we will alert you as early as possible to avoid any surprises, and are happy to work with you to come up with a viable design solution.

Read our blog for some tips on selecting the right design for your book.

‘Ohana Package Interior Designs

View our sample interior design PDFs to see how the interior of your book will look. You specify approximately where you would like your images to appear, and our team will place them accordingly in an attractive layout.

Page backgrounds for standard text pages are, by default, plain white. If it’s appropriate for your book, you may wish to use a gray background to indicate a sidebar or a special section.

Chapter opening pages may repeat a single image for each chapter (this will not count against your image limit) or use a unique image for each chapter (each image used will count toward your image allotment).

The default for your book's cover color scheme is a complementary color palette chosen by our designer based on your main cover image. Default color choices may be overridden by specifying a Hexadecimal or Pantone color code. If you do not know how to provide this information, we are happy to accept paint chip cards, photographs or detailed descriptions that will help us pinpoint the color you want. Clients may also submit an Adobe Swatch Exchange (.ase) file with their materials for our production team to use as a color guideline.

For the clearest idea of how your book will look, we recommend downloading these files (right-click / "save as") and viewing them in Adobe Reader set to view "Two-Up Continuous" page display.
